If there is one place in Madrid that still keeps part of the unique identity and charm of smaller towns and provincial areas, it is Vallecas. Here, you can feel a different atmosphere compared to the centre of the capital. One of the most characteristic features of the district is its strong community movement, focused on neighbourhood associations, children and youth groups, social organisations, cultural groups, environmental associations and more. The South Campus of the Polytechnic University of Madrid is also located here, so if you are a UPM student, living in Vallecas could save you a lot of time in traffic.
